Nick Broomfield, the director behind the controversial feature Kurt and Courtney, has signed an agreement for exclusive representation in commercials with Plum Productions in Santa Monica. Broomfield will begin his work in commercials with a series of spots for Volkswagen in Europe.

Isme Bennie has been named director of programming and acquisitions at Canada’s Bravo! Bennie is also currently head of programming at Space, Bravo!’s sister station. She will now serve that role for both stations.

Anne Hirsch has been named managing director for Europe at CBS Broadcast International. Hirsch has been with CBI since 1988, when she joined as a sales executive. Previous to CBI, Hirsch was at MGM/U.S. Television Distribution.

In Boston, Betsy Kane-LeBlanc will now be filling the role of sales representative at WGBH International. Kane-LeBlanc was formerly WGBH International’s marketing coordinator.

pbs recently rewarded five executives with the title of vice president. Dan Hamby, senior director of program acquisitions and station relations for PBS Home Video; Patricia DiRuggiero, associate general council and corporate secretary; Steven Gray, program scheduling and PBS Channels; Andre Mendes, chief information officer; as well as Annette Pocica in finance will now all hold the position of vice president in their respective division.

Ute Schneider has been picked as the new head of development and acquisitions at Berlin-based prodco Wim Wender’s Road Movies. Schneider was previously a producer with Hamburg’s Monaco Film.

Mary Ryan has been named to the position of executive vice president and network group president at Toronto-based IMAX Ltd. Ryan was formerly senior vice president at Lifetime Television.

Nick Lyons has left Film Australia to cast his lot in with new Australian prodco Telopea International Productions, where he will serve as sales and distribution manager.
