Richard Eyre is the new chief executive of Pearson Television. Eyre, who was previously the chief executive of the ITV Network, replaces Greg Dyke, who has left Pearson to become director general of the BBC.

At Discovery, Steve Burns has been promoted to senior VP of production at Discovery Channel. Bob Reid will take over the day-to-day operations of the production team. Reid joined Discovery in 1997, as an executive producer.

In the U.K., Channel 4 International has appointed Richard Life to the position of program executive, responsible for both program development and coproduction management. Life was formerly group editor at Broadcasting and Cable’s International Television Group.

Jerry Diaz has joined Paris’ Salsa Distribution to head their new Miami office in the capacity of VP of international sales. Diaz comes from Hearst Entertainment, where he held the position of director of Latin American sales.

Hot Docs, Toronto’s documentary festival, has announced the appointment of Karen Tisch to the position of managing director. Tisch comes to Hot Docs after a decade of experience in the Canadian video and film sectors, including tenures at the Canadian Council for the Arts, and the Toronto Arts Council.

London’s Carlton International has appointed Domenic Rayner as territory manager for Australasia. For the last three years, Rayner had been working as head of video sales at ITEL, and previous to that worked at BRITE (Granada Media International) as senior sales executive.

Beyond Distribution has appointed Ellen Lovejoy as director of sales in their London office. Lovejoy joins Beyond from Mayfair Television Entertainment.
