After six years, James Yee has resigned from his post as executive director of the Independent Television Service (ITVS). Yee gave health reasons for his departure from the U.S. entity. Judy Tam, director of finance and operations, will become acting executive director

The advisory chair of the Edinburgh International Television Festival for 2001 has been named to Jeremy Gibson, BBC controller of documentaries and investigations. In this capacity, he will helm the festival’s editorial direction. Gibson succeeds Dawn Airey, the new chief executive of Channel 5. Airy replaces David Elstein in the post, but retains her role as director of programs. Nick Milligan, previously director of sales for Channel 5, was also promoted to deputy chief executive

Helen Thwaites has been appointed the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s head of acquisition business management. In this role, Thwaites will negotiate and contract all content acquired by ABC TV, radio, new media and for ABC Enterprises. Anne McGrath, formerly senior sales executive at RM Associates, also joins ABC as sales manager, Europe. McGrath will work out of the ABC London office

Daniel Marquet has been promoted to executive VP, corporate development for Studio Canal. Marquet makes the move from his position as head of international sales and distribution

Igel Media has brought Victoria Valius on board as VP international sales. Valius will oversee sales for Canada, Australasia and various European territories from her London office. Previously, Valius was sales manager at ChumCity International in Canada

Mehdi Kahtane has moved south to become production and program project director of Canal Vacaciones in Madrid, Spain. Kahtane was previously based in Paris, France, as director of international sales for Ampersand

Diane de Saint Mathieu, former general manager of French prodco Les Films du Village, has joined SBC & Associates as a consultant. In her new role, she will develop TV, cinema and multimedia projects

Associated Press Television News (APTN) has hired Ian Teague to implement new production technology. His new title is head of operations

Crown Entertainment, distrib of the Hallmark Entertainment Network, has welcomed Audrey Iwanczyszyn as executive director of distribution and development. She will serve as a liaison with cable and satellite operators and oversee carriage agreements. Iwanczyszyn makes the move from Sky Television where she was head of international distribution

Montreal’s Blackwatch Communications has appointed Chris Dalton as president and COO. Most recently, Dalton served as president of the Motion Picture Bond Company for Canada and the U.K.

The WTN Foundation, a national Canadian organization for the advancement of women in broadcasting, has appointed Catherine Warren to the board of directors. Warren is COO of Blue Zone Entertainment

Two new appointments have been announced by Henninger Media Services: Karen Henninger has been promoted to CFO, and Bobby Wright has moved up to the post of COO
