After 18 months as A&E’s VP of doc programming, Ed Hersh has left to join American cable competitor Court TV as vice president of docs and specials. Hersh, who assumed the new position in early January, replaces Doc Jarden at Court TV. He reports to Art Bell, Court TV’s executive VP of programming and marketing.

Hersh’s departure from A&E may potentially signal a shift in the cable channel’s direction. At press time, the cablecaster had not announced Hersh’s replacement.
