Bill Ivey, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts in the U.S. has submitted a letter of resignation to President George W. Bush, effective September 30, 2001, eight months before the end of Ivey’s four-year term.

TLC has appointed Roger Marmet VP of programming. He will oversee scheduling, acquisitions and program strategy.

Bob Wise, senior VP of business development and strategy for Discovery Communications Networks has announced he will step down from his post. Wise formerly managed Discovery’s joint venture with the BBC.

Discovery Networks Europe has named David Abraham general manager, networks for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Abraham leaves his position as COO of St. Luke’s Communications, an advertising agency in the U.K., to join Discovery.

The Sundance Channel has appointed Adam Pincus senior VP, on-air promotion, original programming and new media.

Donna Harrison, formerly senior VP of programming and production for The Health Network, has been named senior VP, unscripted and reality programming at Tribune Entertainment Company.

Canada’s Vision TV group has announced Lyse Lajoie has come on board as director of programming for Body, Mind & Spirit, a digital channel launching in September 2001. Additionally, Joan Jenkinson and Beverley Shenken have joined Vision TV’s programming team as director of operations programming and manager of acquisitions, respectively.

London, U.K.-based has recruited Ruth Knight to become the footage company’s marketing and business development manager. Recent content partners for include: Ardent Productions, Double Exposure, Acacia Productions, Mosaic Films and Black Diamond Films.

MTV’s Paul Debenedittis has been promoted to senior VP, program planning and scheduling.

Linda Schupack has moved from the Nickelodeon Network to Rainbow Media Holdings where she takes the title of senior VP, creative services.

TBS has welcomed Gary Holland to the post of VP, on-air projects.

Formerly head of sales for Southern Star’s Wild & Real strand, Paul Heaney is now at Sky in the U.K. as commercial director for technology channel [.tv].
