Atlas Media (New York): Jessica Winchell-Morsa is the new manager of programming for the indie documentary and reality prodco. In this role, she will develop new series and specials. Winchell-Morsa was most recently managing producer at Michael Hoff Productions, where she was responsible for such programs as Court TV’s I, Detective and The Travel Channel’s World’s Best – Top Ten Travel.
Discovery Networks International (Silver Spring, U.S.): After 10 years, Petra Buchanan has left her position as VP communications to join IT company Unisys in Sydney, Australia, where she will be executive director, marketing and communications, Asia Pacific.
E! Networks (Los Angeles): Lisa Berger has been named to the newly created position of senior VP of programming development for the cable network. Berger will be charged with increasing original programming for E! and Style channels.
Five (London): The U.K. broadcaster announced the promotions of Dan Chambers to director of programs and Jeff Ford to the new position of managing editor. Chambers, most recently Five’s controller of factual, takes over from Kevin Lygo, who departed in July to join rival Channel 4 as director of television. Ford was director of acquisitions.
FremantleMedia (London): The international prodco announced the appointment of Simon Jones to the newly created position of senior VP, talent management, for its Worldwide Entertainment department. His responsibilities will include overseeing the growth of FremantleMedia’s format production business.
Parthenon Entertainment (London): The indie factual prodco & distrib has hired Peter Pas as its commercial director, a newly created position. Pas is departing BBC Worldwide, where he is acting head of the German-speaking markets division, to join Parthenon.
TLC (Silver Spring, U.S.): Chris Sloan has exited cable channel USA Network to become VP, production, at Discovery-owned TLC. Sloan was USA Network’s senior VP, reality programming and specials. He replaces Richard Wells, who vacated the position in March.
VH1 (New York): Cable channel VH1 has made a number of key changes to its programming department. In the production and programming division, Michael Hirschorn is now executive VP, and producer Shelly Tatro has been promoted to senior VP. Hirschorn was formerly senior VP, news and production. Matt Hanna, formerly director of music news, is the new director of development. Jim Ackerman is joining VH1 as VP, development production and programming. He was most recently a supervising producer at WB Network.
