Legendary for the public pitching sessions he’s conducted for over two decades, Canadian independent film and TV producer Pat Ferns recently launched a new company – Ferns Productions Inc. – with the goal of helping Canuck producers get international financing for film projects.

Ferns also intends to develop Canadian copros and co-venture financing for international partners. The company’s first deal is a strategic partnership with Chicago-based Towers Productions, to help the company expand into the world market.

But Ferns’ moderating days aren’t behind him. He plans to continue his pitching sessions at media fests across the globe, including the Banff TV Festival. Ferns sat on the festival’s board of directors for a decade, eventually becoming its president and CEO. Banff filed for bankruptcy protection last April, soon after Ferns left his post.
