Discovery Networks Europe has named Dan Brooke as its new MD. Brooke comes from C4, where he was most recently controller of the caster’s digital channels. Brooke replaces David Abraham, who was appointed GM of U.S. net TLC in February.
France Television has replaced incumbent chairman Marc Tessier with producer/journalist Patrick de Carolis.
Mark Sonnenberg has joined Discovery Networks U.S. in the newly created post of head of west coast entertainment, based in L.A. Sonnenberg comes from E! Networks, where he served as VP for E! Style and E! Online.
Knoxville-based HGTV added Gabriella Messina and Andrew Singer as directors of program production in New York. Messina recently worked as an indie, producing for HGTV’s Fine Living, HBO and the WE Network. Singer joins from VH1, having produced for outlets such as A&E, Fox and MSNBC.
Melbourne’s Film Australia has appointed Alex West as its EP, history. West comes from Wall to Wall, where he served as EP.
Welsh net S4C has promoted director of programs Iona Jones to chief executive. Jones succeeds Huw Jones, who is leaving at the end of this year after nearly 12 years in the post.
Tobias Bringholm has been appointed program director of Sweden’s TV4. Since 1993, Bringholm has headed Metronome, a collective of 19 Nordic production shingles.
Dunedin-based NHNZ has appointed Craig Meade manager of development. Meade has been a producer/director for NHNZ since 2003. Previous to that he produced independently.
London’s ITN Archive has appointed Christopher O’Hearn commercial director. O’Hearn comes from APTN, where he was head of content.
In Toronto, Chum Television continues to morph, with Maria Hale taking on the new position of VP, content business development. Hale was previously VP of Chum outlet Citytv Toronto.
Dale Fallon has been appointed head of Chum Interactive. He has served in the department since 2001.
