This London-based production company isn’t afraid to capture the grittier side of life. Witness films like The Beslan Siege (2005), which returns to Beslan’s School No. 1 to hear survivors’ opinions of why the siege ended so horribly; or She Stole My Fetus (2005) the story of two women who stole a pregnant woman’s unborn child through forced C-section. But the company does lighten up once in a while – it has produced shows about comedians and ghost hunting. Founded in 1989, October Films has produced 300 hours of programming and won 70 international awards – not a half-bad ratio.
