The former senior VP of development and production at Discovery Studios has been named senior VP of production and development for TLC. This is the second big new hire for TLC since Eileen O’Neill replaced Angela Shapiro-Mathes as president of TLC in July.

Daniels, who had been supervising production on programs for TLC, Planet Green, Science Channel and Discovery Health Channel since July 2007, is the first hire from O’Neill in her new role.

‘Nancy’s outstanding accomplishments and strong background in production and development makes her the perfect fit for this pivotal role,’ said O’Neill. ‘She’s a proven leader and with her direction and expertise, she is just what we are looking for as we continue to strengthen TLC’s core programming and look ahead to build future hit series.’

Prior to joining Discovery, Daniels was VP of alternative series development at CBS where she worked on programs such as The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Rock Star and Survivor.
