The unscripted cable production arm of 20th Century Fox Television, Fox21, has named Chris Carlisle president.

Carlisle comes to Fox21 with a slew of marketing experience. His last gig was president of domestic theatrical marketing at New Line until the company folded into Warner Bros. earlier this year. Prior to that, he was head of marketing for FX and the Fox network, and he began his career at NBC, where he launched and marketed series such as Seinfeld and Saturday Night Live.

Carlisle also comes to his new position with production experience. In his past marketing roles, he directed film shoots for launch and image campaigns, programmed original vignettes to run during ad breaks and was even known to shoot his own campaign photography from time to time. His appointment is part of the company’s push to grow the unscripted division and to create more hits and formats such as Fox21′s Beauty and the Geek and Sons of Anarchy.

Fox21 was previously run by Jane Francis. She will stay on board as senior VP of creative affairs.
