Australian televison prodco, ScreenWorld, announces the appointment of Mark Hamlyn to the newly created position of head of specialist factual television.

‘ScreenWorld is known for its experienced, professional team, high production standards and quality programs in the specialist factual and lifestyle genres,’ says ScreenWorld’s general manager, Sue Clothier, to whom Hamlyn will report when he starts in his new role on March 2. ‘Mark’s expertise will be invaluable to our team as we strengthen our position in the Australian and international markets and build on our credentials, experience and reputation.’

Hamlyn comes to ScreenWorld with over 30 years experience in commissioning, producing and directing documentaries and factual television. His most recent position was director of commissioned production at Screen Australia.

‘I’m looking forward to working with the ScreenWorld team. I’m excited by their vision and commitment to quality programming. I see it an opportunity to foster the kind of high-end series and one-off projects that were such a rewarding aspect of my work at Film Australia and Screen Australia,’ says Hamlyn. ‘I’ve always believed ambitious, well made factual and documentary programs could be a major presence in the media market and this new position gives me the chance to continue that work.’
