The fabric that holds families together can be extremely fragile, and the ties that bind can become looser over the years as time and distance intrude upon relationships. My Son tells the story of Art Holbrook, a man who travels to Prague to reconnect with his estranged stepson, Kole Kerr, and to gain an understanding about the life he’s chosen to lead – that of a porn film actor/director.
Holbrook discovers more about the tough-talking, Mohawk-sporting Kole – his motivations and his anger about abuse that occurred at the hands of a neighbor following Holbrook’s break-up with his mother. Holbrook’s journey to Prague and he and Kole’s return to Canada is an apt reflection of their journey towards reconciling a troubled past.
