This month DCD Media announced the addition of a new Scottish factual production company to its roster. Realscreen spoke with David Smith, managing director of Matchlight, about how the future of Scottish television production contributed to the launch of the new prodco.

The first project for the company is a doc for Channel 4′s ‘Cutting Edge’ strand focusing on religion and centered around the Middle East and the UK. The new prodco also has three other single docs in advance development for C4 as well as a three-part doc for Channel 5. If Smith’s premonition is right, there will be more where that came from.
