Today at MIPCOM Zodiak Entertainment’s CEO Lorenzo Pellicioli announced it has taken the majority share of UK-based independent producer Dangerous. This agreement will see Dangerous become one of Zodiak’s companies, producing factual, documentary and drama programming which will be distributed by Zodiak.

Under this new agreement, key staff at Dangerous, such as MD Mike Kemp, director of creative content Richard Dale and co-founder Tim Goodchild, will remain with the prodco.

‘We’re delighted to be joining Zodiak Entertainment at this exciting time,’ says Kemp. ‘Becoming part of a large, global group will give us the opportunity to work on bigger projects with group synergies, larger budgets and also to get the most out of our current portfolio of programming through the group distribution network.’

Dangerous launched in 2003 and since then has produced factual programs such as Dino Body which used CGI to go inside the body of a dinosaur and The End of the Universe: Hubble’s Final Chapter which followed the people who service the telescope in space. The prodco has also worked on international coproductions with Discovery Channel, BBC, Pro Sieben, TF1, History Channel and ITV 1.

‘We are very pleased to welcome Dangerous to our growing company and become part of its continued success,’ says Pellicioli. ‘With this new entry our group increases the value of its wide range of products in a high- quality and ever more competitive market.’
