Doc Alliance award to be given out at Dok Leipzig

At this year's Dok Leipzig festival, the second Doc Alliance Award will be given out. The best film from the alliance of five key European documentary film festivals - DOK Leipzig, CPH:DOX Copenhagen, IDFF Jihlava, Planete Doc Review Warsaw and Visions Du Reel - will receive the €5,000 Doc Alliance

At this year’s Dok Leipzig festival, the second Doc Alliance Award will be given out. The best film from the alliance of five key European documentary film festivals – DOK Leipzig, CPH:DOX Copenhagen, IDFF Jihlava, Planete Doc Review Warsaw and Visions Du Reel – will receive the €5,000 Doc Alliance Award, selected by an international jury. The nominees are Auto*Mat from the Czech Republic’s Martin Mareček, Big John from Norway’s Håvard Bustnes, Hotel Sahara from Germany’s Bettina Haasen, Maggie in Wonderland from Sweden and Finland’s Ester Martin Bergsmark, Beatrice ‘Maggie’
Andersson and Mark Hammarberg and The Sound of Insects – Record of a Mummy from Switzerland’s Peter Liechtis.
As well, DOK Leipzig has announced its social engagements for 2009, Refugees United and UNICEF – Leipzig City Partnership.
