In our never-ending quest to connect producers, broadcasters and stakeholders in the global factual entertainment and non-fiction business, the realscreen team’s been hard at work developing a number of new products to make your professional lives more efficient and, we hope, more rewarding.
First of all there’s realscreen Connect, a new online screening room with remarkable features and access. Launching at the Realscreen Summit in Washington, D.C. in February, producers and distributors will have the ability to showcase their programming to over 300 top factual broadcast execs onsite, and then their shows will be available online to even more buyers until the end of August 2010.
Features of realscreen Connect include the ability to screen full-length eps in HD, real-time reporting so that program sellers know which buyers have viewed their offerings and a very, very reasonable cost of entry. Sellers can access the site to upload their programming now and broadcasters will be able to screen submitted materials on January 15, 2010.
A large group of very busy and influential broadcasters has volunteered to help test the site in the coming weeks. That will help us provide key time-saving and meaningful features that will, in turn, enable them to track down their next big hit at the Summit and online, 365 days a year. More big news as we announce the call for entries for realscreen’s Factual Entertainment Awards – a global celebration of excellence in fact ent programming. The idea to develop a comprehensive awards contest and awards show was born out of general industry opinion that the genre is not suitably recognized or fêted at the international level and that if there’s one brand with the insight, resources and industry support to create a meaningful program, it’s ours! The call for entries is now open. Rules, categories, eligibility etc. can be found at awards.realscreen.com and the deadline for submissions is December 31, 2009. The winners will be announced at an awards gala during the Factual Entertainment Forum on June 3, 2010 in Santa Monica.
