UK-based prodco Rare Day has appointed Dan Brooke, former MD of Discovery Networks UK, as MD. In his new position Brooke will work alongside company founder Peter Dale to grow the company’s commissions with the goal to work with new brands and distributors. Brooke comes to the position with a wealth of experience, having transformed Discovery’s UK operation with the launch of channels such as Discovery HD, Discovery Knowledge, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Turbo and Discovery Shed. While at Discovery he also oversaw the commissioning of hundreds of hours of factual programming such as The Big Experiment, World’s Toughest Tribes and My Shocking Story. Prior to joining Discovery Brooke was MD of digital channels at C4 where he helped to develop and launch E4 and FilmFour. Dale launched Rare Day last year after leaving his position as head of More4. The prodco is currently working on a talent competition entitled School of Saatchi for BBC Two.
