We are saddened to report that Sarah Mulvey, commissioning editor for documentaries at Channel 4, has died. The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear, with reports saying a coroner’s inquest had been opened and adjourned. Mulvey joined the British pubcaster in late 2006, coming to Channel 4 after stints as a freelance producer and director, working on documentary, format and feature television projects. Prior to coming to C4, she’d been a series producer for Brat Camp and an exec producer on How to Look Good Naked. Upon coming to the channel, she was tasked with commissioning formatted doc series for 9pm, single documentaries for the doc series Cutting Edge and doc projects for C4′s emerging new talent strand, ‘First Cut’ – she had been the editor for the strand’s launch. ‘Sarah was a respected and well-liked colleague and everyone who knew her at Channel 4 is shocked and saddened by her death,’ said Channel 4 in a statement. ‘Our thoughts are with her friends and family at this time.’
