DISCOP Africa reports that significant volume deals were made upon the conclusion of the Senegal TV market. Organizers say DISCOP Africa had a participation rate that, at 357 delegates, equaled the previous edition’s held in Nairobi, Kenya, but that the average number of meetings between participants increased. Highlights of the three-day event include the announcement of the first association dedicated to the protection of copyrights and the enforcement of copyright laws in Sub-Saharan Africa and the confirmation from Senegal’s Minister of Information that the government will build dubbing facilities in Senegal due to the large demand for programs dubbed in African dialects, and in French, English and Portuguese. The next DISCOP Africa will be held in Nairobi, Kenya on September 1 to 3, 2010.
