Hemmings House Pictures, based in Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia has opened a new production studio in Tokyo. The company has been producing film projects and advertising photo shoots in Japan for the last 10 years, primarily produced via director of photography Mark Hemmings, but with recent involvement from other filmmakers associated with the company. ‘Our main clientele will be multinational corporations from North America and Europe who need production work executed in Japan, but are wary of the language and cultural barriers that may exist between them and Japanese production companies,’ said Mark Hemmings. The Japan office will be headed up by photographer and location scout Jeff Austin, and will focus on advertising photo shoots, film and video productions, professional English/Japanese translation, and location scouting services for other foreign prodcos. It will also offer consultation services for companies that need cultural, language, and business assistance.
