UK-based distrib Digital Rights Group (DRG) has formed a partnership with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to sell the Canadian pubcaster’s formats globally. The two-year deal will also see DRG investing in what it is calling a ‘substantial’ development fund for new format titles from CBC. DRG is launching the standalone brand ‘CBC Formats powered by DRG’ at MIPTV, with the company distributing international rights to the CBC’s existing formats portfolio, including The Next Great Leader, which began life as Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister. ‘We’re pleased to be partnering with one of the world’s leading distributors and we’re confident DRG will help us to maintain and enhance both the CBC brand and reputation on the global stage,’ said Julie Bristow, executive director of factual entertainment for the CBC.
