The 14th Annual Webby Awards, honoring the best of the Web, have released its list of nominations, in sections devoted to website, online film and video, interactive advertising and mobile. Categories announced include Documentary: Series, for which the nominees are Behind the Veil from globeandmail.com, DavidLynch.com presents Interview Project from David Lynch, WNET.org’s The City Concealed, The Secret Life of Scientists from NOVA/WGBH and The Specials from Kada Films. In the Documentary: Individual Episode category the nominees are A Schoolgirl’s Odyssey from The New York Times, Driftless: Stories from Iowa from MediaStorm, In Silence: Maternal Mortality in India from Human Rights Watch, Leveling Appalachia: The Legacy of Mountaintop Removal Mining from Yale Environment 360 and the Waterlife Interactive website (www.waterlife.nfb.ca) from the NFB. Isabella Rossellini received a nod for Sundance Channel’s Green Porno, in the Best Individual Performance category, and the series got another nomination in the Comedy: Long or Short Form category. The National Film Board of Canada also racked up nominations for the Waterlife Interactive website, which received four nominations, in Society/Education, Society/Green and Media/Movie and Film, as well as in the Best Online Film and Video in the Documentary: Individual Episode category. The NFB’s free iPhone App was nominated in the Mobile category for Best Use of Mobile Video – Mobile Web Features. Winners will be announced on May 4, 2010, and honored at a ceremony in New York City on June 14.
