Babelgum Online Film Festival winners announced

The third Babelgum Online Film Festival saw over 35,000 people viewing the 275+ films and over 10,000 votes cast leading up to the announcement of the winners.

The third Babelgum Online Film Festival saw over 35,000 people viewing the 275+ films and over 10,000 votes cast leading up to the announcement of the winners. The films entered into competition came from all over the globe, and those shortlisted in the four categories – narrative, non-narrative, documentary and animation – came from Taiwan, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, India, Romania, New Zealand, Germany, Canada, Argentina and the United States. The Grand Jury Award went to doc Beyond the Clouds, from Lee Phillips. The film, focused on the extreme sport of sky-surfing, claimed the $6,000 prize. In the documentary category, the jury award winner was Families on Trial. UK filmmaker Raj Yagnik claimed the $3,000 prize, while runner-up Claire Reynolds, also from the UK, took the $1,000 prize for her short In Recovery. The Stoli Emerging Filmmaker Award went to Under the Covers with Chip Kidd, from American director Rachel Talbot, while the Audience Award went to the UK’s James Harrison for Mark Webb – BMX Champion.
