Sharon Levy, previously SVP, original series at Spike TV, has been promoted to EVP, original series and animation. In her new role, Levy will continue to oversee development and production for the net’s original series, and will also be tasked with bringing more animation-oriented projects to its slate. Spike’s animated special Afro Samurai: Resurrection won the primetime Emmy last year for outstanding individual achievement in animation. Levy, co-chair and panelist for realscreen‘s upcoming Factual Entertainment Forum in Santa Monica, joined Spike in 2005 and has overseen development on several of its most popular series, including Deadliest Warrior, Pros vs. Joes, 1000 Ways to Die, MANswers and 4th and Long. ‘She has been instrumental in bringing top-flight talent to Spike,’ said Spike president Kevin Kay of Levy. ‘Her ability to connect with the Spike viewer has resulted in developing many of the network’s top rated series. Now we look forward to develop original animation using her talents for our guy-centric audience.’
