The Daily Telegraph has reported that RTL Group has plans to sell off Channel Five. The paper says that RTL has established a team of advisers to prepare a ‘tender process’ for the British TV channel, and named fellow UK broadcasters ITV, Channel 4 and BskyB as potential bidders. The Telegraph report also names superindie Endemol as a possible buyer as well as Warner Bros in the U.S. In March of last year, Thomas Rabe, CFO of RTL’s parent company Bertelsmann told The Financial Times, ‘We don’t think Five in its current form is sustainable and that a transformation of the business or consolidation is necessary.’
