Animal Planet has recommissioned Icon Films to create a third season of its hit show River Monsters. The second season ended its run last week, outscoring the previous record-breaking season by setting new ratings highs and delivering over 1.5M P2+ across its seven episodes. It also helped the channel rank among the top five cable networks in the Sunday 10pm time slot among viewers 25-54 and men 25-54. The launch of the third season is projected for spring 2011 and will see angler Jeremy Wade explore more killer fish in freshwater locales in New Zealand, Brazil, Japan and Australia.
