Corus partners with Melis on Shatner doc

Corus Entertainment's Movie Central is partnering with William Shatner's Melis Productions and Ballinran Productions Limited to produce The Captains(w/t), a feature documentary on the life of William Shatner. The documentary, looking at Shatner's early life in Montreal and on the stage at Stratford through to his success with Star Trek and later career, will begin production in July and is scheduled to broadcast in winter 2011. Shatner is due to direct and executive produce the film. Also on board as executive producers are David Zappone and Craig Thompson.

Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central is partnering with William Shatner’s Melis Productions and Ballinran Productions Limited to produce The Captains(w/t), a feature documentary on the life of William Shatner. The documentary, looking at Shatner’s early life in Montreal and on the stage at Stratford through to his success with Star Trek and later career, will begin production in July and is scheduled to broadcast in winter 2011. Shatner is due to direct and executive produce the film. Also on board as executive producers are David Zappone and Craig Thompson.

Movie Central also picked up William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet, a documentary about choreographer Margo Sappington’s ballet set to the music of William Shatner and Ben Folds’ album Has Been.
