Atlantic Canadian production company Hemmings House Pictures received three awards during nextMEDIA’s Interactive & Pilot Awards, held during the Banff World Television Festival. The company’s Sistema, which focuses on the classical music program featured in Venezuelan schools and its social impact, snagged the award for best overall pilot as well as best pilot in the 5-20 minutes category, while Cubicle to the Cage, which follows the transformation of ordinary folks into mixed martial arts cage fighters, won the award in the 2-5 minutes category. CBC will be airing Sistema in the future, and Cubicle is currently in development with Toronto’s Portfolio Entertainment. Wrestling with Reality, another Hemmings House project that was part of the ‘So You Think You Can Pitch?’ competition at the 2010 Realscreen Summit, will soon be sold in Europe to the Extreme Channel.
