Richard Melman, channels director for AETN UK, has left the company after eight years.

While at AETN UK, Melman was channel director for The History Channel UK and The Biography Channel UK, The Crime & Investigation Network, Crime & Investigation HD, The Military History Channel, The History Channel HD and The History Channel Africa, Greece and Northern Europe. He came on board in 2002, after serving as channel director and executive director for Artsworld (now known as Sky Arts), the first digital arts channel in the UK.

Prior to Artsworld, Melman served as head of production for Jeremy Isaacs Productions, having worked with Sir Jemery Issacs as a producer/director for the CNN series Cold War. Melman also worked with the BBC to help launch two joint venture channels with Discovery, People+Arts and Animal Planet.

There is currently no word as to whether or not Melman has another position elsewhere. An AETN spokesperson told realscreen that a search for a replacement in the channels director position is underway.
