Bird on a Wire, a documentary following Leonard Cohen’s 1972 tour, has been restored by director Tony Palmer and will be officially available on DVD for the first time in September. Prior to its DVD release, the film will have a premiere screening during the annual Leonard Cohen Event in Krakow, Poland, from August 6-8, and will then make its way to the Green Man music festival in Wales, held in late August. The film originally premiered in 1974 but had been rarely seen thereafter. In his blog concerning the project, Palmer says the original version was destined to air on the BBC’s Omnibus, but when the singer/songwriter insisted on submitting a re-edited version, the Beeb refused it.
