Lee Bartlett joins Discovery Communications senior management

Former ITV studios MD Lee Bartlett has joined Discovery Communications as executive vice president, global production management, business and legal affairs.

Former ITV studios MD Lee Bartlett has joined Discovery Communications as executive vice president, global production management, business and legal affairs. His new role, effective Sept. 1, entails day-to-day oversight of content acquisition for all of Discovery’s networks and digital platforms globally. His responsibilities also cover content deals, intellectual property, licensing and other issues. Prior to ITV Studios, Bartlett worked with current Discovery Communications COO Peter Liguori at Fox Broadcasting Company as EVP of business affairs and at Fox Networks Group in the same capacity. ‘Having known and worked with Lee for many years, I can attest firsthand to his expertise and skill in managing and negotiating high-level production and content acquisition deals,’ said Liguori. ‘Lee’s experience and innovative spirit will be a major asset to Discovery Communications as we continue to build our global brands with the highest quality nonfiction programming across our portfolio.’ Bartlett will be based in L.A., with offices in Silver Spring and London.
Also in Discovery Communications news, Bruce Campbell, previously president of digital media and corporate development for Discovery, has been named chief development officer and general counsel. Campbell takes the general counsel role from Joe LaSala, who has decided to leave the company, effective at the end of 2010.
