Straight 8, the international Super 8 short film fest, has teamed up with the Sheffield Documentary Festival to present its first-ever doc program on Nov. 6. Straight 8 challenges filmmakers to create a three minute and 20 second film in sequence on one roll of film and then send the undeveloped film to organizers who develop it and show the finished film for the first time at the screening event. Unlike recent straight 8 events, every film submitted will be screened, no matter how it turns out. ‘Having a guaranteed cinema audience is liberating and terrifying in equal measure,’ says straight 8 founder Ed Sayers. ‘We hope it drives people to make the film that they want to make and to make it the best that they can.’ For full details including deadline info, visit www.straight8.net.
