AETN brings on ex-Target MD for international distribution

A&E Television Networks (AETN) has appointed Ian Jones as managing director, content distribution & commercial development for AETN International.

A&E Television Networks (AETN) has appointed Ian Jones as managing director, content distribution & commercial development for AETN International. Previously the group managing director of UK-based Target Entertainment, Jones will be tasked with the international distribution of AETN’s 8,000-hour library in his new role and will work alongside AETN International managing directors in London and Singapore. Based in New York and reporting to Sean Cohan, senior vice president, international for AETN, Jones will oversee sales staff based in the UK, Singapore, and New York, as well as sales reps in Sydney, Montreal, and Tokyo.
‘We recently expanded our content offering to include firsts like TV movies, competitive reality and 3D,’ said Cohan in a statement. ‘We recognized the need to add a senior global sales executive to our team and with his extensive sales and leadership background, Ian fits the bill perfectly. We look forward to working with him on developing and executing our content and commercial strategy.’
Prior to Target, Jones was president of National Geographic Television International, and has also served as deputy managing director and general manager at Granada International.
