Weighing in on the omissions in the Oscar doc shortlist

David Ehrlich of Cinematical offers his take on this year’s Oscar shortlist for documentary features and gives the Academy a sound scolding for snubbing Werner Herzog’s Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Lixin Fan’s Last Train Home and Frederick Wiseman’s entrancing La Danse: The Paris Opera Ballet. Meanwhile, Patrick Goldstein of The Los Angeles Times also laments the lack of a Herzog appearance in the shortlist.
