The annual MIPDOC Co-Production Challenge, organized by Reed MIDEM in partnership with realscreen and the European Documentary Network, has opened its call for entries. The Challenge will be part of this year’s MIPDoc conference, held in Cannes from April 2-3. As with past years, producers of selected projects will have the opportunity to pitch their programs before a panel of top international commissioning editors. Last year’s panel of judges included CBC’s executive director, factual entertainment, Julie Bristow; RAI commissioning editor Lorenzo Hendel; A&E Television Networks’ VP international programming Michael Katz; ITVS’ VP of programming Claire Aguilar and jury chair and BBC Storyville commissioning editor, Nick Fraser.
This year, selections of pitches to take part in the Co-Production Challenge will be made by the European Documentary Network (EDN), and realscreen is selecting the jury that will choose the top project.
The winner of the Challenge will receive: editorial coverage during MIPDoc 2011 and in realscreen‘s post-MIP issue; a one-on-one meeting with a jury member during the event; free entry to MIPDoc 2012; free submission of their winning program to the MIPDoc 2012 digital library; a two-day pass to the 2012 Realscreen Summit, in Washington D.C. and a one-year subscription to realscreen. The deadline for submissions is February 25, 2011. For more information and the submission entry form, click here.
