Australian broadcaster Channel Nine is the latest to pick up the hit format The Money Drop.
Channel Nine has commissioned a 10-part run of the game show, to premiere later this year, and will be produced by Southern Star Entertainment, an Endemol company.
The Endemol UK-created show, which debuted on Channel 4 in the UK in May 2010, has since seen the format sold to 13 territories, including the U.S., Germany, Russia, Spain and Israel.
In the U.S., Fox’s The Million Dollar Money Drop has given the network a 36% audience boost from the same night last year, and ranked Fox as number 2 among both adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, and number one among teens and men 18-49/18-34.
The Money Drop is a high stakes TV game show that can be simultaneously played online at home. Contestants begin with a million dollars and have to correctly answer questions, or else their winnings will fall through a trapdoor.
