HGTV Canada’s new series Design DNA will be represented internationally by Beyond Distribution.

The design series takes a look at iconic home items – such as the KitchenAid stand mixer to the Eames Lounge – from inception and design to the factory.

Created by Toronto-based Castlewood Productions for HGTV Canada, the series is in its premiere season in Canada.

“When we were shooting Design DNA in factories and towns across Europe and North America, we thought the show had a natural international appeal and we were optimistic that it would be picked up for distribution,” said Castlewood Productions president Andrew Burnstein. “And with this deal, Design DNA is outperforming our expectations – while gaining male viewers and fans in Canada each week.”

Danika Porter, Beyond Distribution’s Sydney-based marketing manager, said in a statement: “Like many people I have several of the featured items in my home and I was fascinated to learn the stories and to see how they are made.  These are iconic objects all over the world and we expect the series to appeal to viewers everywhere, especially in design-conscious Europe.”
