TLC has announced its new home design series, Mad About the House, from Pilgrim Films & Television and starring design expert Ryan Brown.

The net has ordered six one-hour episodes from Pilgrim, which is based on a format from Renegade Pictures.

The series is billed as part design drama and part relationship renovation. Every episode will see a couple receive $25,000 to make over rooms in their houses, but they work separately to create their dream rooms. The end of the episode sees both rooms revealed and the couples will see if their design sensibilities are close or completely different.

Production has already begun and Mad About The House is scheduled to premiere in early May.

Mad About The House brings home makeovers back to TLC,” said TLC GM Amy Winter. “Through a big-concept format that gives us double the design, we address the completely relatable challenge of having couples try to agree on the look and style of their home. By exploring renovations through the lenses of relationships and taking a look at how well couples know each other’s style, the series is a perfect complement to our schedule.”
