Royal Television Society has revealed its shortlist for the RTS Programme Awards 2010, which includes nominations for The X Factor, Million Pound Drop and Channel 4′s much-talked about My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.
The awards will be presented on March 15 at a ceremony in London, hosted by comedian and television presenter Dara O’Briain.
In the entertainment category, two ITV shows have received nominations, The X Factor, produced by TalkbackTHAMES and Syco TV and The Cube, produced by Objective Productions. Also nominated is Channel 4′s The Million Pound Drop, produced by Remarkable Television, an Endemol Company.
In the features and lifestyle series category, Pineapple Dance Studios from Pulse Films for Sky1HD goes up against Don’t Tell the Bride, produced by Renegade Pictures for BBC Three, and The Great British Bake-Off, produced by Love Productions for BBC 2.
True Stories: The Cove, the Oscar-winning doc that aired on More4, is up against fiction series Mad Men and Justified in the international award category.
My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, produced by Firecracker Films for Channel 4, is up for single documentary, along with Between Life and Death, produced by BBC Productions/BBC Wales for BBC One, and Clover Films’ The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan for More4.
The judges’ award and lifetime achievement award will be announced on the evening of the awards.
