HBO, Kopple gear up for “Gun Fight”

HBO has set an airdate for Gun Fight, a doc looking at the issues surrounding gun laws and gun ownership from Oscar-winning director Barbara Kopple (pictured), airing the film to mark the fourth anniversary of the Virginia Tech Shooting.

HBO has set an airdate for Gun Fight, a doc looking at the issues surrounding gun laws and gun ownership from Oscar-winning director Barbara Kopple (pictured), airing the film to mark the fourth anniversary of the Virginia Tech Shooting.

The film sees Kopple (Harlan County USA, American Dream) blending archival and original footage to investigate the complex issues surrounding guns and the heated debate over how best to reduce gun violence in the U.S.

It promises to tell stories from both different sides of the debate, and will debut April 13 at 9.30 p.m. EST, repeating on April 16, 21, 25 and 29.

The film is directed and produced by Kopple, with Marc N Weiss and Williams Cole also serving as producers. The editor is Robert Eisenhardt.
