ITV Studios names Silverback CEO

ITV Studios, the production wing of UK broadcaster ITV, has appointed Hans Engholm (pictured) as CEO of Silverback, its Scandinavian production company.

ITV Studios (ITVS), the production wing of UK broadcaster ITV, has appointed Hans Engholm (pictured) as CEO of Silverback, its Scandinavian production company.

Engholm, most recently creative director at Scandi rival Eyeworks, will report directly to ITV Studios MD Kevin Lygo and will be based in Stockholm.

“A significant part of the ongoing ITV transformation plan is to produce more of our own shows internationally,” said Lygo, who added that Engholm is “highly regarded within Scandinavia for his creative and innovative approach and we’re confident he’ll make the most of UK success to gain commissions for ITVS formats in the territory.

“Equally we look forward to him pitching original formats from Scandinavia back to us in the UK and our studio production network in other parts of the world.”

Engholm founded independent production company Produktionsbolaget, which focused on gala productions and big events, selling the business to Eyeworks in 2005, at which point he became creative director. The role saw him overseeing productions such as the Swedish versions of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Bingolotto as well as developing original formats such as Know it All and A Fight Against Death.

Veronica Sundin, who has been acting CEO at Silverback, will revert to her previous position of chief operating officer when Hans Engholm joins the company.
