“We Were Here,” “Home of the Buffalo” awarded at Inside Out fest

The Toronto film festival, one of the largest LGBT film fests in the world, recognized the two docs during its award ceremony over the weekend.

We Were Here, David Weissman’s look at the impact of the arrival of HIV/AIDS upon San Francisco in the Eighties, and Rémy Huberdeau’s archive-based Home of the Buffalo were awarded at the closing ceremonies for the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival.

Weissman’s film received the Elle Flanders Award for best documentary film or video, while Huberdeau’s effort was named best Canadian film or video during the Sunday night awards ceremony.

The Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival is one of the largest LGBT film fests in the world, and this year’s 21st annual edition featured 85 screenings over 11 days.
