Vancouver-based Force Four Entertainment’s expanding development and production slates, with a new HGTV Canada series on the way, have led to the promotion of Sean De Vries to head of factual entertainment.

De Vries joined Force Four in 2008, as director of development. He brings more than 10 years of TV production experience to the realscreen Global 100 production company, as a former journalist for the CBC and BBC. De Vries works closely with the company’s creative head, executive producer John Ritchie, who will continue heading scripted programming.

In addition to the promotion, Force Four has revealed it is also in production on Urban Suburbans, a 26 x 30 minute HGTV Canada series. In every episode, a couple has to choose between living in the suburbs or near the city, as they go through six open houses led by brother and sister real estate agents, Sarah Daniels and Philip DeMoulin.

The project was developed by De Vries, who is also a producer on the series. He said of his new role: “Force Four Entertainment’s success comes from creating compelling, entertaining programs and producing them with a great deal of integrity. I look forward to this expanded role of creatively directing concepts from inception through production.”
