XYZ Networks-owned channel LifeStyle You has commissioned Shine Australia to produce an Australian version of factual entertainment series Wife Swap.

Shine has licensed format rights from Zodiak Rights for the show and will begin production on the 10-part, one-hour series immediately, for premiere on the channel in early 2012.

Shine Australia CEO Mark Fennessy described the format as “one of the great international success stories in factual entertainment.”

Nicole Sheffield, XYZ’s general manager of LifeStyle channels, added: “From white collar privileged households to domestic neat freaks and self-described supernannies – no parenting, family, diet, racial or socio-economic stone will go unturned.

“We’ll see Australian families through fresh eyes; it will be fascinating and heart-warming viewing.”

The Australian channel has already aired UK and U.S. versions of the series. To date Wife Swap has been sold to almost 80 territories internationally.
