As London-based indie Nerd ramps up to deliver a wave of U.S. and UK pilots, the production company has named Johann Insanally as its first director of production.
Insanally will be responsible for managing all of Nerd’s television productions, as well as leading the indie’s drive into commercials with a new dedicated commercials unit.
The new DOP has already completed the production of Nerd’s first U.S. pilot, a coproduction with L.A.-based Kinetic Content. The project is for an as-yet unnamed broadcaster, and was shot in the Guyanan rainforest.
Other Nerd pilots include a U.S. business format and a new documentary series presented by Warwick Davis.
Previously, Insanally was a producer at Darlow Smithson, Tiger Aspect Productions and Blink Productions, and his credits included Lusitania: Murder on the Atlantic (BBC/Discovery/NDR/M6), Gold Diggers (Discovery) and When Boris Met Dave (More 4/Channel 4).
He also served as a Ridley Scott Associates (RSA) commercials and movie producer, where he worked in commercials, branded content and music videos.
