Nordic independent production group, Northern Alliance Group (NAG), has added Sweden’s Titan Television and Norwegian subsidiary company Limelight Film & TV to its roster.
The acquisition of Titan is a strategic move for NAG to expand within the Nordic countries, as the group already has the production companies Monster in Norway, Moskito in Finland, Baluba in Sweden and Gong in Denmark under its umbrella.
Titan is one of the largest production companies in Sweden, and was founded in 1996 by Thomas Hedberg and Anette Beijer. The company develops programs produced in other Nordic countries and currently has more than 20 series in production across all Swedish TV broadcasters. Titan produces lifestyle, documentary and factual content and has produced foreign formats for the Swedish market, including The Biggest Loser.
Oslo-based Limelight Film and TV is known for developing formats, including The Hospital for TV3 Sweden and Norway, Outsiders for Kanal 5 in Sweden and Viasat 4 in Norway and Nannyjouren for TV3 Sweden and Norway.
NAG will produce close to 100 TV series within all genres during 2011, and with the addition of Titan and Limelight, the number of productions is expected to increase significantly.
NAG’s CEO Morten Aass said, “As a result of the acquisition of Titan, NAG now is the largest independent company by far on the Nordic market with a turnover of more than € 100 million (US$144 million).”
He added, “Titan’s focus on developing formats is completely in line with NAG’s business concept. Titan is in a growth phase and has strength in categories that complement Baluba in Sweden.”
“When we received this possibility with NAG it felt like a perfect way to secure Titan’s continued growth at the same time as we continue as an independent player, though considerably bigger,” said Thomas Hedberg, MD at Titan.
