U.S. cable network Showtime has acquired Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon (pictured), a documentary looking at the beginnings of the Grammy-winning Oklahoma band.

The documentary, which premiered theatrically earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, weaves home videos, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of the band’s journey from their small-town beginnings to international stardom. Showtime will air it August 21 at 10 p.m. EST.

The film comes from first-time director and friend of the band Stephen C. Mitchell. It is produced by Casey McGrath for Phear Creative and exec produced by Kings of Leon bandmembers – Nathan Followill, Caleb Followill, Jared Followill and Matthew Followill.
