Bunim/Murray Productions’ newly named SVP of digital media, Daniel Tibbets, is looking to launch new digital properties out of the gate.
The former GoTV Networks SVP and studio chief started on July 1 after selling GoTV networks, and is looking to blaze a trail with non-fiction content in the digital space.
“What Bunim/Murray does best is non-fiction programming,” Tibbets tells realscreen. “One of the driving forces of coming here is being able to take all of that creative power and bring that level of storytelling to the digital media space.
“It’s not that it hasn’t been successful, it’s that it hasn’t been tried on this scale,” says Tibbets of bringing non-fiction content to a digital audience.
The digital studio will be ramping up very quickly with pre-existing properties, as well as initiatives Tibbets will oversee including channel development, branded content and opportunities with advertisers, and content extension of existing brands.
“We, in a very short amount of time, have put together a pretty robust development slate [for] how we’re going to approach this and this will not be a slow roll-out by any means,” he maintains, adding that within the next couple of months Bunim/Murray’s digital studios will be launching two to three new programs.
