´╗┐Shannen Doherty, star of the original Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed, is coming to cable.

The Shannen Doherty Project (w/t) has been greenlit by AMC Networks-owned WE tv, and is slated to air in the first quarter of 2012. Production on the 8 x 60-minute program begins in August.

The series will follow Doherty and her partner, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, as they prepare for their wedding (the actress’s third marriage) and Doherty plans to embark on the next phase of her acting career.

“Shannen’s relationships and life experiences make her a riveting personality to watch,” said John Miller, WE tv’s senior VP of original productions and development. “This is an opportunity for audiences to get a rare sneak peek into the real Shannen, who has been notorious about guarding her private life. Her situations are familiar and will make this series stand apart from other celeb-reality shows.”

The show marks Doherty’s return to reality TV following 2006′s Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty, which aired on Oxygen. Doherty also hosted one season of Syfy’s hidden camera series, Scare Tactics, in 2003. Most recently, she’d appeared in the 10th season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

The Shannen Doherty Project is produced by RelativityREAL and Doherty’s shingle, No Apologies Productions. The exec producers for WE tv are John Miller and Kathleen Farrell.
